چکیده

D espite aggressive control of modifiable risk factors, recurrent acute coronary syndromes are still common, and the underlying mechanisms largely elusive. Glycoprotein (Gp) Ia/IIa is one of several collagen receptors involved in platelet adhesion. A C807T gene variant of GpIa is related to Gp Ia/IIa receptor density on the platelet surface, with the density proportionate to the number of T alleles. Previous case-control studies in white subjects have associated this variant with acute ischaemic heart disease. As it is not known whether the 807T allele may also predict recurrent acute coronary syndromes, this was investigated in 117 survivors of a first acute coronary event; patients were followed for up to five years.

Association between Thrombophilic Gene Polymor-phisms and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in Iranian Women

Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a common problem among couples, and acquired thrombophilia is the well-known etiology of RPL. The aim of this study was to establish the association between inherited thrombophilic gene polymorphisms and RPL. Methods: This case-control study was conducted on 50 women with unexplained RPL and 50 parous women with no history of miscarriage (age range...

Association of the platelet glycoprotein Ia C807T gene polymorphism with nonfatal myocardial infarction in younger patients.

Recently, we have shown that two alleles of the glycoprotein (GP) Ia gene, designated C807 and T807, are associated with low or high platelet GPIa-IIa density and consequently with slower or faster rate of platelet adhesion to type I collagen, respectively. This polymorphism could therefore present a genetic predisposition for the development of thrombotic disease and hemostasis. We investigate...

Glycoprotein Ia gene C807T polymorphism and risk for major adverse cardiac events within the first 30 days after coronary artery stenting.

The glycoprotein complex Ia/IIa (GP Ia/IIa) is a major collagen receptor on platelets and other cell types. Recently, linked polymorphisms within the coding region of the GP Ia gene (C807T and G873A) were identified that are related to GP Ia/IIa surface expression. The T807/A873 allele is associated with high expression, whereas the C807/G873 allele is associated with low surface expression of ...

Genetic polymorphisms of platelet glycoprotein Ia and the risk for premature myocardial infarction: effects on the release of sCD40L during the acute phase of premature myocardial infarction.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of genetic polymorphisms C807T and G1648A of platelet glycoprotein Ia (GPIa), on the risk for myocardial infarction (MI) and on the release of soluble CD40 ligand (sCD40L) during the acute phase of MI and one year after the event. BACKGROUND C807T and G1648A polymorphisms affect the density of GPIa on platelet surface, but their e...
